About 30 kilometers from Ammoudia is the village Gliki. There the river Acheron winds through a narrow gravel river-bed. At some places you can discern the many subterranean springs of the river Acheron, by the ascending bubbles.

The hiking tour to the springs of Acheron starts with a narrow path under pine trees along the river. After the end of this path you have to walk upstream in the shallow water. Because of some very peaky stones in the river-bed, we recommend to wear shoes.

After about 1 kilometer you reach a narrow, which is so deep, that you can only pass it swimming.

Beyond this place you unconditionally need firm footwear, if you want to walk further into the canyon below the precipitous rocks.
